Subject: This had better work...
In reply to: Ravin (and the old man) 's message, "The tests of enlightenment" on 11:14:18 12/07/01 Fri

Isobel had followed Ravin and Erlic into the swirling mist as if in a trance. Now she found herself sitting on a dirt floor in a cave with the two men. Her mind was a ball of confusion and she held her head momentarily, shaking it to clear away the cobwebs. "I like that old man less and less by the moment," she commented.

She caught sight of the well between the statues and stood up, moving toward it. "Perhaps we must climb down the well?" She started, but then she saw the words carved on the front of it. Ravin and Erlic were getting to their feet and she read the words aloud. "Listen to this:

'More valuable than gold, more precious than silk,
Pouring like wine, flowing like milk,
A count's mighty feast, an offering of war,
A pack is now sealed, forever more.
If you wish to succeed, I need this,
Before you can proceed.'

"Madre del Dios it is a riddle of some sort." Isobel turned and looked at the men, who were now gathered around the well with her. Ravin was not looking at the inscription for some reason, he was instead examining the statues. She looked back at the well, her lips moving as she reread the riddle to herself. "I think we must put something in the well, no? Do we have wine? No that cannot be right... it says wine in the riddle." She frowned, concentrating.

"More valuable than gold... flowing... a count's feast? offering of..." Her eyes went wide. "Ahh!" and she stepped up to the well. She still had Muerte in her hand and she sliced her palm with it, letting her blood drip into the well. "This had better be right..." she muttered as she squeezed her fist to make the blood flow faster.
