We had submitted our teamlist (prior to the game) to the umpire with the name of Dan Smith on it as we did not know he wouldn't be there. Once submitted we cannot change it so we could not draft anyone else in at that stage. Sorry that this information was not passed on to you. I did not realise you had volunteered. This was breakdown in communication but I do not feel highlights any 1st/2nd XI divide. Apologies.
