Well, I don't know if I can give a FULL explaination, only a summation of observations made over the last 12 years at PA. PA has for many years suffered from a lack of identity. You can trace this to several sources, each of which adds its own distinct piece to the overall puzzle. Right now, the faire is rebounding from it's all time low, which occured about 4 years ago and contributed to my leave of abscence. So because of this lack of identity the faire is caught in this limbo somewhere between theme park, Renaissance Faire, Fantasy Faire, and dinner theater.
