Jousting and knights and chivalry and that whole deal have been my "thing" since I was a little kid. When I go to a ren faire, the joust is the one show I will NEVER miss. Over the last 2 faire seasons, I've seen 39 shows (and counting) performed by Impact Productions at 4 different faires. You know I love you guys and think you're the best, I really do, but, up until this past weekend, I don't think I really, truly appreciated the talent and skill you guys have. I made the trek up to NYRF on Saturday to see Steve K. from Stockwood ren faire (who asked me to tell you guys he says "hi", by the way) and a few other people I know perform there. Of course, I had to see the joust. By the time it was over, I wasn't sure whether I wanted to strangle Emo and John when I see them at the opening of PARF for ruining me for all other joust teams out there, or give them another cooler full of Labatt Blue for founding the best joust team out there. I had heard that the jousters out at the Great Lakes Medieval Faire in OH and the Sterling Ren Faire in upstate NY pretty much stunk from some people I know from PARF who've been spoiled by Impact, but I held out hope that my experience at NYRF would be better. No such luck. It was like expecting to see a major league team play live at a stadium but watching a minor league team on tv instead. I'm not saying they weren't good, the crowd seemed to like the show. But it just was not anywhere near good enough for me. Once you've seen the best, the rest just won't do, and I've seen the best 39 times....and plan to see them a whole lot more.
Huzzah to the knights of Impact Productions - you guys really do rock!!!
