Sherlock has received it's highest ever UK overnight TV ratings - an average 9.2m viewers tuned in, with a peak of 9.7m in the first 5 minutes of broadcast.

The average figure is provisionally the highest average UK audience for a drama over the Christmas period.

In addition, this figure doesn't include recordings or online viewing via BBC iPlayer, all of which will be consolidated and added to the total in the future.
