Mary (Morstan) Watson most likely died before the events of "The Empty House", which is the story that brought Holmes back after his long absence. So I am guessing that they have a reason for her introduction that goes well outside of any sort of conventional Sherlock Holmes canon.

Oh yes that's what I meant but I dind't want to spoil you!

Watson was already a widower in "The Adevnture of the Empty House" (and was already married in "The Final Problem"), so even though they changed the timeline for his marriage, I was wondering whether Mary would be killed off or not.

The fact she is so perfect and how/why she met John is the part that sticks out in this episode. Given the theme of tomorrow's ep and the fact we have an uber-villain in the background is the part that worries me, or shall I say means I worry about poor John yet again!
