It is a fiction. Is it a fantasy?

What is "Game of Thrones?" Or Buffy? Or "Lord of the Rings?"

I think they are in that sci-fi/fantasy realm that somewhat blurs the meaning of the genres.

There's one fantasy element, of course, when they open the ark, but it's mostly an adventure movie.

Certainly not science fiction!

GoT is heroic fantasy, like Lord of The Rings.

Buffy? I think it belongs to its own category (and yes the robots, the Intiative make it sci-fi from time to time) but most would call it a vampire show, so it's fantasy (like Dracula).

Sci-Fi implies fictional science (and many subcategories, one of them being space opera), when there's no fictional science at all I think it's extremely improper and confusing to use the sci-fi label.

Mind you, I am old school and call it "SF" but yeah, Indy is most definitely not an SF film.
