Subject: "Walterisms"...do you have any?

Don has a co-worker/friend who he often carpools with over the winter months. (Don drives a work vehicle, so this makes sense in so many ways). Anyhow, this co-worker is a really nice guy, married with two small kids and is a few years younger than Don. What makes us a little bemused is the fact that while this guy seems fairly smart and holds down a pretty good job, his take on a few fairly basic concepts leaves us wondering how he got such gaps in his education...

1. One day on their drive, Walter and Don got talking about penguins. Or maybe it was polar bears. Anyhow, it came as a complete shock to Walter that polar bears and penguins live on completely opposite ends of the EARTH. I think Don finally had to resort to telling Walter he should Google this fact, since he was having a hard time believing that penguins would have no reason at all to worry about polar bear predation.

2. This one happened earlier this week. They were talking about the world supply of oil and how some estimates gauge that there is perhaps 100 years left before mankind runs out of it's most essential form of fuel. Walter wondered aloud how bad things could be, since more oil must be being made all the time... Don was telling me this later that evening and mentioned how he tried to point out that it takes a long, LONG time to make oil from decaying plant matter (fossil fuels, eh?) but Walter had a hard time getting that concept. If at all.

*sighs*

LOL

1. ”She tricked my son with her carnal manipulations and he fell right into her vagenda.” (Entrada)

Everyone thought Walter coined the word "VAGENDA" but there was an album by that name by an indie artist.

Sadly, our Walter is half his age and aside from the occasional cold, pretty healthy. But somehow they end up sounding like brothers from different mothers! LOL
