It's the "one-off" episode of the year (kinda like Brown Betty) that may not advance the myth in any way. He plays this uber-FBI agent and it's not clear if he's a Bluverse or Redverse FBI agent. If he's in the Redverse then it may actually be set in the past before Fringe Division took over from the Redverse FBI. And that may have consequences for what we see now in the present of FRINGE.
