- Looking for Bobby Teague's Vietnam army buddies? -- Nancy A. Teague, 07:35:53 11/06/09 Fri
Hi out there in internet land. I'm looking for any guy who knew my deceased husband Bobby Fletcher Teague? He was in Vietnam, was kicked out of the army for what Bob told me was stealing a motorcycle? He was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, however, moved to Michigan where I met him and married him in 1982. I think if I remember correctly, he was out of Nam in 1968, or 69? Just to let you know, he was a funny, smart, wonderful man whom I had the pleasure of being with for almost 19 years, still miss him, always will! Sincerely, Nancy Please let me know by e-mail, thanks.

- Charles "Chuck" Kott - Loss of Life, not on memorial! -- Paul Hurley (CamRanh Bay -mysterious DOA), 12:59:14 11/04/09 Wed
While serving TDY from Taiwan, Chuck Kott lost his life to non-hostile means at Cam Ranh Bay, RVN, sometime in summer
of 1969. The circumstances are known by me but not for public dissemination. I want Chuck's family to have his name on the memorial to show his dedication to his country and the USAF. He was 21 years old, I was 19.

- AGENT ORANGE/COLON CANCER -- Karen Butler, 14:14:54 01/03/08 Thu
I have noticed that some veterans have or had colon cancer and served in Viet Nam. My husband served in Bien Hoa in 1966-1967 and came home in 1968. Bien Hoa was the heaviest sprayed area and being there was an air base close by (that stored Agent Orange), there was a major spill in Bien Hoa. (the air base was in Bien Hoa). My husband died in 1996 and I have never stopped sending claims to the Government, just sent another one, advised by my Congressman and the head of VA claims. Who knows, maybe one day the government will admit that my husband died as a result of serving in Viet Nam. I'll keep trying until I die. I was married almost 30 years and have been a widow for 11 years. So if there is a list out there of Veterans who have had colon cancer or has colon cancer, and served in Viet Nam (during 1966-1968) please e-mail me your names, I want to supply as many names as I can. Thanks Karen

- A request from a dying Vet -- Ron Lockhart, 14:47:22 10/06/09 Tue
My brother-in-law, Ron Lockhart, served twice in Vietnam and he contacted Agent Orange because of it. He has a aneurysm up around his heart that may bust open any die causing him to die within minutes, plus an artery that needs to be operated on as well. Problem is, he has a 1 - 2000 chance of survival, being a very "high risk" for any kind of surgery at all. He's more than likely to die on the operating table. Ron is in his mid 50's now, married, in Arizona and he's really looking for support. I am his sister-in-law, thanking you Vets for serving our country and asking you to please send Ron an email. He's so close to dieing now. I think more then anything he wants to hear from other Vets. He lost his legs a long time ago so he stays at home, using his wheelchair to get around. He and his wife set up computers in their home so Ron opens his email box most everyday. Here's his email address. Thanks, folks.

Colonel Fer,
I have a bracelet that I found along the American River in the Sacramento, California area about 10 years ago and it has your name and the date you were captured. At that time I tried to track you down but was unsuccessful. I just came across the bracelet again and when I GOOGLED your name there is alot of information about you. There is an address in San Pedro, California that I think is you.
Would you like to have this bracelet? It has great meaning for me but I thought it might have greater meaning for you or your children or grandchildren.
Thank you for your service to this country. I appreciate that because of what you did I get to live the life I live.
With warm regards,

- Jack Dwain Lewis -- Pam Bean Lewis, 20:29:32 10/18/09 Sun
We are trying to locate someone who may remember, or was part of, a special ops unit in 1971 and 1972. My husband, Jack Lewis, was in this unit and I believe most folks referred to him as Lewie. The unit was stationed at Camp LeJuene, but together and separately were assigned TAD to a recon unit in Vietnam (Laos and Cambodia also). The special ops unit was also in Gitmo, Russia and Argentina I believe. I think the recon unit was Delta, 3d Battallion. While in LeJeune he was attached to Regimental Headquarters, Company E, 2d Battallion, 8th Marines, 2d Marine Division, FMF. On February 14, 1972 my husband, Cecil Grant, and I believe three other men went down in Laos. My husband and one other man survived the crash and subsequent rifle fire. Please contact me if you knew Cecil Grant who was killed that day, or my husband, or new anything about this unit. Thank you.

I am writing a book about veterans, to be published next Memorial Day by Perseus Publishing. The inspiration for the book is my brother, Jim Schuler, who was a combat engineer in Vietnam. Jim served three tours: 1st Engineer Battalion (66-67), 87th Engineer Battalion (68-69), and 815th Engineer Battalion (71). Jim suffered from PTSD, alcoholism, and other problems, and died in 2001. I am interested in speaking with or emailing army engineers who served in Vietnam. The goal of my book is to raise awareness and to promote better services for veterans. I’d love to hear from you. I was At Cam Rahn Bay when the bomb dump went up . It was Aug 26 1971. I was there a month to the day. I was assigned to the 483rd Security Police Sq. We were recalled and dispatched to set up a defensive perimeter on the beach road about 1.5 miles from the bomb dump itself. I remember ordanance going off for months after the initial attack. Can you tell me if Agent Orange was used at Cam Rahn Bay from 1971-1972? I remember sitting in a bunker Bay side and all the vegetation on both sides of me dead and having lush jungle further back from the perimeter!!!!!

I am 32 and lost my father on 06.23.08 to a gun shoot in the head - suicide. I am in pain and angry at the Vietnam war. I may not have fought the war but I felt his pain, his anger, his depression, isolation, sickness with AO and other illnesses. When I was a little girl he would get so angry and his eyes would glaze over, he would get in a tackle position and run after us and beat us until he came back to reality. He was not there – he was in Vietnam all over again. I was called a mother-fucker if I complained about anything: “You mother fuckers do not know how good you have it. You do not know what starvation is or having to do with-out.” I realized as a small child that my Dad would just go nuts and it was not his fault; that he did not mean it. I was able to forgive him at a very early age. I have heard countless stories of the jungles and how 7 year old children would shoot at the soldiers. It was kill or be killed. SV camps being bombed and raided by NV. Pictures of starving children, pictures of my Dad starving. I felt his pain and remorse in my heart, it would run through my body and my heart just bleeds. Now he is gone. I accept that he did not want to feel the pain anymore…but I am still here and I still feel the pain. I know I am not alone. Please write to me because I feel alone.

Recieved this e-mail from another Nam vet who is loking for some help finding dust-off pilot
If anyone knows dustoff/medevac pilots or crew who flew near Lai Khe in III Corps in December 1969, please ask them to contact me tgarlock@mindspring.com
My cobra helicopter was shot down in a firefight near Lai Khe Dec 17, 1969 and we went down hard. I had a broken back, legs paralyzed (until after
surgery) and the broken bird had to be destroyed by rocket fire from the air to keep the weapons, ammo and radios out of enemy hands.
I would like to know who was flying medevac to pick me up. It is not an entirely rational desire, and I have passed on similar messages myself from grunts who want to find the medevac crew who saved their ass, while I knew the chance of finding them was small.
In my case, maybe a broken cobra on the ground would stand out in memories among so many missions. Maybe someone even took a photo.
Please pass it on, and to all dustoff/medevac pilots and crew who see this message, you will never know how many guys think of you with gratitude for the rest of their life.

When will they face the facts and stop their coverup that amyl is related to AGENT ORANGE. WHEN?? OH by the way a famous author died this past Sept from Amyloidosis too, he was also a Viet Nam vet? What a surprise he served the same years as my husband did? His family probably doesn't even know what the hell happened to him or why his pen name was robert jordan real last name Rigney

Hi,
I'm trying to get some help trying to understand my Dads military records. He enlisted in the Army 1947-1951. He went in as a cook, and was injuried from my understanding. He was supposedly taking to a hospital in japan where he was admitted and remained in hospital for several months. My dad is 78 years old and recently passed away, he had been trying for years to get some benifits thur the VA. For years he got denied due to no medical records of injury in the korean war. But, couple weeks before his passing he was approved for something fnally but my mom doesnt know what exactly. His death messed that up and voided it so they said, re did some papers and sent my mom a letter saying she was only approved for 499.00 a month. Plus remember what I said above, all these years he was denied benifits but and swore that paper work got lost etc. but now she gets that money but with still no med records?.this has stumped me. I have a DD214 discharge but says he wasnt injured in duty. I have tryed talking to VA local office and he just told me to handle it with caution cause she is recieveing something now with out med. records I could mess it up by persueing this. Is that true?

I was researching the name on my MIA/POW bracelet: "Capt. John Blevins 9-9-66". A post done by his widow said that he passed away in December '02 of Colon Cancer due to effects of Agent Orange. I wanted to express my disappointment and dismay at these terrible news. Not only had he survived what I can only imagine a horrible ordeal, but he also died from a disease which he might have survived, had it not been compounded by the toxins of Agent Orange. Toxins to which he had been exposed to while performing his duty to his Country.
Mrs. Blevins, my heart goes out to you and your family for you immesurable loss. I am only very sorry that I just found out today. I'll still wear my bracelet in honor of your husband and all the men that gave their life for this Great Country of ours. Regards.

- Agent Orange and Primary Amyloidosis -- Ed Beyer, 21:01:16 07/03/08 Thu
ALERT:
Primary Amyloidosis. Just by chance I had a double balloon endoscopy done at Mayo Clinic. I had at least two years of stomach cramping and blockage. It seems that there was a stricture that would get blocked and cause this situation.
At Mayo (a research center for Amyloidosis) during this test they did a biopsy at this site and found Amoylodosis. At the time they did not know if it also included Multible Myoloma. One year ago I went through a stem cell transplant (my one cells were harvested) and two day of high doses of chemo.
When other parts of my body were recalled to be check for Primary Amyloidosis... it was noted that in my routine colonscopy that the polyps were also diagnosed with Amyloidosis .. however two years prior they did not detect it then. It is because it is such a rare disease that no one would consider testing it with the "CONGO RED STRAIN" for Amyloidosis.
Also, another symtom for Amyloidosis is carpal tunnel syndrome .. which is so common today .. who would even think to test for the Congo Red Stain???
How can we get the VA to really do a research on this rare disease??? How can we warn our Vets to ALWAYS ask their doctor to test everything for Amyloidosis and use the test: Congo Red Stain????
If you have any direction in this at all, please let me know. I have put a claim into VA for this ... but as you know it is still under research!!
Meanwhile, I am not working, post stem cell, and very fatigued, just had both arms repaired for carpal tunnel, and two bone replaced in my hands for arthritis.
PLEASE fellow vets get your colonosopy and if you have polyps have them tested for Amyloidosis and use the CONGO RED STAIN for testing on everything ... carpel tunnel, kidney, liver, heart, AND REPORT IT TO YOUR VA CENTER AND PUT A CLAIM IN.
THIS DISEASE IS SO RARE THAT WE MUST BRING IT TO THEIR ATTENTION.

- Agent Orange and Prostate Cancer Help -- Carol West, 10:05:20 04/12/08 Sat
My husband was recently diagnosed with Adenocarcinoma of the prostate, Gleason Score of 5+4=9, T3, inoperable and incurable. We can thank the VA hospital in Leavenworth for not doing annual PSA test or phycial examination of the prostate even though they were requested.
The VA wants us to jump through hoops to provide them with information they already have due to earlier disability claims. Now we start over "again". We need to provide statements from other servicemen who served in Vietnam with Conley to verify he was exposed to Agent Orange and in what areas he was exposed. We are on the AO register and have been for years but that doesn't seem to make any difference.
If you know anyone who served with my husband in Vietnam we would appreciate any information you can provide. Dates of Vietnam service were 1966-1971, Plain of Reeds. He served with the 11th Infantry - 3rd of 5th CAV - 9th DIV and 4th DIV in several different areas of Vietnam.
Thank you so much for any help you can provide.
God bless all of our soldiers and veterans who have protected and continue to protect the Consitution and the United States of America.
Warm regards, Carol

I am trying to help my sister-in-law
Ted West was a VietNam Vet, he served with the 101 Airborn.
He tried to get VA disability for a long while and about 8 years ago he was awarded 100% he had 70% PDSD and 100%unemployability. He used the VA for all medical need and three or four years ago he started having alot of stomach problems and ask that he be given a cat scan or MRI,he was told that Diagnostic testing was not in the budget, finally he got supplement Insurance for SS and see an outside Doctor who did two MRI's and found cancer in his live, stomch, and prostate. Ted died about two and a half weeks later.
We would like to hear from anyone who has been refused any diagnostic testing from the VA for Any reason. Also Ted was on the AO list.

PTSD has many faces. I'm a survivor of childhood abuse and I have PTSD. There is no shame in being a survivor and there is hope and help. I'm part of a new organization, www.BringBacktheLight.com to help those living with PTSD come together in support groups and find resources they can use to overcome their trauma. I'm proof that EMDR, Somatic Experiencing and along with the usual "therapy" WORKS, but we need support groups too. Join us at www.BringBacktheLight.com.

- agent orange -- dolly warren, 10:20:51 01/06/09 Tue
my husband served in the army and is 100% service connected for prostate cancer related to agent orange. we received a letter stating they were going to decrease this amount significantly to 20% because he urinates ok and his psa is good. well i say the prostate cancer has left my husband permanently damaged because the surgery, then chemo then hormone therapy has completely distroyed his ability to have normal male functioning. this is a very embarassing subject for us. what can we do? harry doesn't want a penile implant. we've been married 20 years and have two wonderful sons. we worry they will get cancer of the prostate. i love my husband and am a va nurse; but maybe someone with some experience with this can enlighten us. thank you in advance.

- agent orange verification -- steve norton, 14:50:35 08/08/09 Sat
I served with VRC-50 and VQ-1 from 1968 thru 1970. I was in Danang 3 different times during that period. My service records only show the Japan and Phillipine service. I have filed for Agent Orange compensation (have prostate and lung canceres). After 8 months, the VA determined that I have not proved I was in-country (feet on the ground), so they rejected the claim. Unless it was a dream, I am sure I was there....including the attack on the ammo dump during that period. I worked in aviation supply for both squadrons at different times. If you have any suggestions as to how I can verify this, please let me know. The VA is really looking out for us (NOT).
Thanks, steve norton, AK3

My father was in the 9th infantry division in 1967-1968. He has been complaining of worsening symptoms just like yours. Dizzy, unsteady, balance issues, problems with depth perception and very vivid dreams that keep him from sleeping. He was just told by a VA neurologist that he has a syndrome that often leads to Parkinson's disease. HE was definately exposed to agent orange and we have photos to prove it. Good luck to you and I hope that you both find some answers. At least he now knows that he is not alone.
Thank you.

- 20th Engineer Brigade Reunion 2009 -- Jerry Cook (healing and having fun), 18:28:04 10/08/08 Wed
www.20thEngineerBrigadeReunion.com
contact: 803-528-7363
Jerry Cook (68-69, Bien Hoa, HHC)
July 23-26, 2009
Hampton Inn - 803-788-4901 $92.00 per night.
(please mention the group to get this rate)
We're reaching out for all Viet Nam era Vets who served in any area with the 20th Engineer Brigade. After last years great reunion in Rockford, the 18th Annual Reunion will be held in Columbia (Ft. Jackson) South Carolina
. We've got plenty planned for you. Fort Jackson will be providing buses from our hotel on Saturday for a tour of the installation, museums, ranges, and facilities -- complete with lunch at a mess hall. They will also provide us with PX privleges and an on-post authorization for our vehicles. In addition, Mr. Lyle Daniels, of the Warrior Training Alliance will take all of us through a training session on the range, just like the recruits go through before heading into real combat situations. Don't panic if you're not as fit as you were in basic training...this is open to everyone, men and women, adults and kids alike. You DO NOT want to miss this.
. Thursday will be check in with an informal meal. Friday, we'll sponsor a golf outing on base -- shotgun start, 18 holes. Friday night we'll meet, renew old acquaintances and just get laid back in the hospitality room at the Hampton Inn.
. Saturday, after our base tour, the dinner will be held on base at the NCO club, and is by reservation only. We'll have predinner music by a Quartet furnished by the US Army band. Our flag ceremony will be presented by US Army Soldiers on active duty. A guest speaker will be announced later.
. This is a great place to plan a week long vacation. You won't be disappointed. With both the Great Smoky Mountains and the Atlantic Beaches (at Myrtle Beach and near Charleston) between 2 and 3 hours away, either or both would make a fantastic day trip. Closer to the hotel, at Fort Jackson is PALMETTO FALLS - a water park for young and old alike. Each night from the steps of the Capitol Building, leaves the Columbia Ghost Walk. While you are there, be sure and take a walk around the Capitol building and see the marks on the walls left by Sherman's shelling. Columbia is home to the wonderful Riverfront Zoo and the fabulous River Walk. Speaking of the River, you might want to rent a canoe for a short jaunt down the Congaree. Make your reservations before the rooms run out! WE HOPE TO SEE YOU IN COLUMBIA IN 2009 - IT REALLY IS A CAPITOL CITY!!!

- Looking for a place to look -- Cezanne Pellett (Confused and angry), 00:47:42 09/17/09 Thu
I am 31 and the daughter of a Vietnam vet who is 68 and now living in a care center, blind, unable to care for himself and most of the time unaware of where he is or what is going on around him. The entire story of how my father ended up in this horrible condition is incredibly long and I won't go into it just now, what I need is help finding someone who can help him and my mother. He had a tumor removed from his brain and, due to a surgeon's error, had a stroke during the surgery. He had the surgery in the VA hospital in Salt Lake City, UT where he has been seen for the past 10 years or so. He was exposed to Agent Orange and, while I know that brain tumors are on the list of things not caused by that exposure, he has a number of the other disorders that are on the list that have greatly aggravated his condition. The problem we are having now is that we are getting the run around between VA and Medicare as to who is responsible for the cost of both the surgery and his perpetual care. I don't know all the details, my mother is the one dealing with it, but she is right at her breaking point and I have to do something or she is going to lose what little she has left of her sanity along with her home and everything else she spent so many years building with my dad. I know she has tried talking to some people at the VA here and has been told to talk to some people at the local VFW, but the few times anyone from these places have even retuned her calls she has been told that there is nothing anyone can do. My parents are good, hard working people, and do not deserve to be treated the way they are at the moment. My father served at least 2 tours of duty in Vietnam and served his country with honor and now that country says that it's just too bad that he got screwed over but they won't do jack to help. I'm sorry this ended up being so long and angry, I don't mean to seem antagonistic, but it's something I'm a bit emotional about, obviously. If anyone knows of any person or organization that can help my mother with the claims and appeals processes I would appreciate it so much. Thank you.

It is important to prove I was in DaNang. I do have Photos I took from Flight Engineers seat coming into DaNang ,Taxing to Flight Line, of different Sleeing Quarters with sandbags on back, facing the main highway that is used at night by the VC,why we were not allowed outside gate after 7:00 pm, Flag Pole, Mess Hall, Rugged bamboo SV Soldiers Homes at end of Base. - TACP/DASF Reunion -- tom branham, 15:16:47 05/17/08 Sat
This is to let you know that we will be holding a TACP/DASF reunion for anyone interested on 12,13, and 14 Sept 2008 in Las Vegas. I have a deal on rooms at the MGM Grand for about $50.00 a night and I am working with Air Tran to provide a discount on air fare. Let me know if you will be able to make it or not.
This will probably be the only time to get to meet and greet old comrades in arms.
Let me know if you are going to go as our discount depends upon at least 10 people. The hotel is for two guest per night so if you are currently single let me know and we will try and share the room with another dasfer/tacper

- On Highway QL-1 1970 -- Richard Rivers, 09:54:33 08/30/08 Sat
I was on highway QL-1 on May 22, 1970 when a large booby trap went off at a site where a culvert was being built. At the time I had been in country for a month. I was about 1000 feet away from the blast. I know there were three people killed that day and some were wounded. The booby trap killed a medic named Sp/4 Robert Marthaler, Jonny Hines and the third I do not remember his name. I cannot remember the men who were wounded. I was operating a five ton dump truck hauling backfill material from the barrow pit to the culvert site. About 15minutes before the boobytrap was set off I was talking to the medic Robert Marthaler who was standing about 300 feet away from the Army Ambulance with the red crosses painted on the sides. Does any one else recall what happened that day. It seemed like the rest of the day was a fog.

- New book - Soldiers returning from War with PTSD TBI -- Tara Lichterman, 08:32:05 04/03/09 Fri
Casemate is proud to announce the April 2009 publication of an important new book that helps us understand not only the struggles of our soldiers on the battlefield, but the complex, enduring, and often barely visible travails they are forced to deal with after coming home. HIDDEN BATTLES ON UNSEEN FRONTS, written by Patricia Driscoll & Celia Straus, reflects a unique collaboration between the Pentagon’s new Defense Centers for Excellence and the Department of Veterans Affairs.
All royalties from this book will be donated to wounded soldiers with TBI and/or PTSD.
What people are saying about HIDDEN BATTLES ON UNSEEN FRONTS . . .
“. . . a thorough resource guide . . . an invaluable volume for vets and their families, and yet another important cry for the proper treatment of the nation’s defenders on the field and at home.”
—Publisher’s Weekly
“Celia Straus has compiled a very real and very powerful story of the tragedies and successes of our American soldiers. It is a must-read book—not just for returning veterans, advocates, family members, and care providers—but for all Americans.”
—Congressman Bob Filner, Chair, House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs
“The intensely personal stories in this book place a human face on the adversity of war that frequently remains hidden from public attention….Despite their struggles, returning warriors may also seize this opportunity to experience post-traumatic growth as well—deepening one’s faith, cherishing relationships, reordering life priorities, and extending compassion and empathy for others.”
—Brig. General Loree K. Sutton, Director of the Defense Centers of Excellence for Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury
“These stories are a glimpse into the lives of our service members and the real challenges thousands of them face as a result of defending and protecting our country and its ideals. Straus’ compilation of real life stories demonstrates the importance of addressing the changing needs of our soldiers and why it is essential to identify victims of TBI and PTSD and help them
recover from these unseen, but very real injuries.”
—Congressman John Boozman (R-AR)
“… a compelling collection of personal accounts and essays that tell the most important story of our time. … a masterful job of giving voice to those who have lived through the trauma of war—as well as those who are dedicated to providing care and support to our military community. Her tales are painful, wrenching and often uplifting accounts of loss, recovery and survival. These are the stories that must be told and fully comprehended so that we can truly provide the care and support that our returning
warriors and their families need and deserve.
—Barbara Van Dahlen Romberg, Ph.D., Founder & President, Give an Hour

- Re: UTT HELICOPTER CO. -- GARY L RATLIFF (IT'S A GREAT DAY TO HAVE BEEN A SOLDIER.), 16:07:38 02/13/08 Wed
ON 16 OCT 1961 my brother, DOUGLAS A. RATLIFF(deceased) was reassigned from the 25th Trans Det (AM) (avation maint) APO 331 to the USA UTIL-TAC TRANS (UTT)HELI CO APO 331. The unit deployed from Okinawa to Thialand and then on to Tan Son Nhut Air Base , Republic of Vietnam in 1962.
In May of 2006 A Vietnam Veterans Memorial was unvieled in Wyandot County ,State of Ohio. Myself and three other family members/brothers names were on the Monument but no Douglas A Ratliff.
Needless to say the Ratliff family was very upset. Having been to Okinawa,Thialand,Vietnam and 35 years of military experience I took on the task to prove my brother was in fact a Vietnam Veteran. As I told my sister Joyce, (MY WAR, MY SANDBOX)
On 17 Nov 2007 I received a letter from the Veterans Service Officier of Wyandot County stating that "In view of the evidence presented, I will assure you and the Ratliff family that I will see to the engraving of the name DOUGLAS A. RATLIFF on the local Veterans Memorial".
For anyone out there researching military history of a Vietnam Veteran I have a couple of hints. The dates of the Vietnam Era for us veterans who actualy served "IN" Vietnam are 28 FEB 1961 thru 12 May 1975. When requesting information from the records center, request records that identify all UNITs of Assignment. All military services maintain databases on UNIT Histories . Where the unit goes, the Soldier goes.
IF ANYONE OUT THER HAS PICTURES OF THE UTT UNIT PATCH OR OTHER PICTURES THEY WOULDN'T MIND SHARING, WE WOULD APPRECIATE THEM.

- A Stong Middle Class of Widows of Vietnam Veterans -- Carol Hotchkin, 09:53:48 01/30/09 Fri
If you are a widow who was denied D.I.C. benefits, go to astrongmiddleclass.gov and ask Joe Biden to review policy for widows of 100% disabled veterans offered 48 months of education only to discover there are few good jobs for graduates over 50. See HR 3286, a bill designed to address this which died in the House.

- Looking for anyone who knows my father - stationed in Germany '68-'69 -- Jennifer Noel (Looking for answers), 09:30:42 01/20/09 Tue
Hello,
I am looking for anyone who may have known my father, Charles "Chuck" Fletcher. He passed away this last Saturday from pneumonia, but it was due to liver failure caused by Hep C. He finally received a transplant in April/May 2008, but it was too late for him. I know so many of you were in Vietnam, but he was stationed in Germany. He enlisted at 17 yrs. in Jan 1968 and completed basic training at Fort Lewis Washington and AIT at Fort Ord, CA. He was stationed in Scheinfurt, Germany (May-August 1968) 1st Btn, 30th Inf, 3rd Inf Div and then HHC 1st Bn, 15th Inf. In Sept 68 - Dec 1969 he was in Kitzecan assigned to company A 1st Btn., 15th Inf as a M113 Personnel Carrier Driver. In Nov/Dec 69 he was deployed to Wild Flecken, Germany. He mentioned Spec 4th class Bennett and PFC Heinz along with others who have passed away. He was discharged in December 1969. He had tried to complete a claim for PTSD, Hep C and frostbite, but was denied each attempt - either waiting for him to die or to just give up hope. I learned more about him and his life by reading his claim paperwork, than I had through the 28 years of my life. If anyone has any information on this place, these people or could steer me in the right direction, me and my sisters would be eternally grateful - I am just hoping to learn more about my father who kept everything inside as it was all to painful for him to remember and discuss. Thank you all for listening and reading this. My thoughts go to all of you and the other families affected forever by this time in our countries social and military history.
His daughter,
Jennifer
