Subject: Re: Looking for anyone who served Okinawa 1966/1971

I was in Okinawa from July 1969 to February 1970. During my stay I was assigned to a Missle Site near the town of Yomitan. Site 1 was in the middle of heavy jungle brush and I remember civilian Okinawa crews spraying around the out side and inside perimeters of the fenced in compound. What concerns me is that in the later months of 1969 when the Okinawans were protesting the return of the islands to Japans we used to have mock drills to defend the site. During the alerts we were assigned to defend the site perimeter against any violent actions from the local populations. We were issued our rifles (no ammo) and our steel pots and we had to lay down on the ground to defend if the fence was breached. I now have diabetes, high blood pressure and not very good health. I wonder if the spraying of the crews to kill the brush had any agent orange in it.
