April,

Good for You!! I met with the BON last October; not for reinstatement, but to ask for probation instead of suspension. I did get 3 years probation and monitoring.

My sister went with me for moral support which helped ALOT!

You have no reason to feel intimidated or 'less than'. You earned the right to practice as an RN. You earned it a long time ago and had a bump in the road is all.

My advice is that you try and shake off those nervous feelings, easier said than done, I know, but a humble confidence in your recovery and verbalizing a strong desire to practice as a nurse will set well with them.

Practice feeling confident and happy with your recovery for an audience.. lol.. may sound silly, but that's what's going to happen, you're going to have an audience. To appeal to this group, they want to see a happy, grateful to be recovered and an opportunity for a second chance nurse sort of attitude.

Of course you can imagine and practice what you will say and it will go differently than exactly what you practice. It does help though!

Congratulations for how far you've come. Good luck, let us know how it goes!
