I was going to NA out of convenience; meetings close to home. Overheard a young tough guy during the smoke break say something like,

" Man, those nurses, taking drugs from the sick and the dying."

I was compelled to explain that nurses divert from the system (medication dispensers, creative charting, leftovers, etc.) I assured him my patients always got their meds. It was surreal being "judged" by a guy who bragged about his criminal record in the meeting.

Alas, some of us "are sicker than others"....
