I joined a closed group on Facebook called "leaving AA or any other 12 step organisation". A bit wordy of a name but I met several interesting people, namely Monica Richardson, a documentary film-maker who has made a film on 13th stepping. I for one am appalled that taking advantage of newcomers sexually is so common that it has its own cutesy name. (and I first learned of it when it was too late back in 1989!)

Airline pilots are also subjected to similar programs as healthcare professionals. Monica is working on a documnetary; there is also a class action lawsuit in California for pilots. I'm sharing my story with her in the odd chance something can be done for medical people.

The thing I find illegal and unethical about monitoring programs is being forced to 12-Step meetings. The 90 in 90 is clearly a brain-washing tactic. I talked to an RN who has to appear before the board because his license was suspended.....the board requires a report from his AA sponsor. Why the hell is an AA sponsor given that kind of clout?? If the sponsor says the RN hasn't worked "a strong program" will the board not reinstate the professional license?

I'll see what I can find out about the film ( a must see as sex offenders are being court ordered to 12 step meetings....)
