Date Posted: Tue, Sep 18 2012, 22:57:10 Hello all! I am finally able to tell you that as of Friday, I will be a licensed RN once again. I can not believe it is finally happening, but it is! It seems as if I have jumped through a million hoops, peed in a thousand cups, and lost too many $$$'s to count. But, I have shuffled along and here I am with my hand out for that ever elusive license. The next step is finding a job! There are several dialysis jobs in the area, so that will be my first stop. I have to work for 6 months with a narcotic restriction- my casemanager said I could even work in a volunteer position to work this off. I miss taking care of patients, I miss the work environment that nursing provided and I must admit, I really miss the nursing paychecks. I have held on to our house by the skin of my teeth, and I am already working on a budget that will slowly lead us away from the MOUNTAIN of debt we have accumulated over the last 2 1/2 years. I am thinking fondly of all of you out there in who are dealing with addictions and also with nursing legal issues. I think getting over the drug addiction was the easy part, dealing with the professional backlash was excruciating. I know I don't post very often, but I know that there is always some sort of support system out there for me if I seek it out. Sometimes the support I find in meetings (AA and other) doesn't seem as valuable to me as the support I find in some of the online forums. Thanks to all of you for being here. Now, on to getting the 3 years of nursing probation over with- that is my next hurdle. The last several years seem to have passed rather quickly, so maybe this will also.
