Subject: through the storms

Place me on the rock
as icy raindrops swoop down
and sting my windows.

What a true blessing
that they fail to crack each pane
with aim like snipers.

Sackcloth clouds deride
as overflowing soils
erupt into floods.

Rushing waters crash
against my flint foundation
and swipe at drenched walls.

Windy blades propel
and spear my splintered front door,
straining its hinges.

Babylon merchants
gawp as their nearby mansions
collapse to the sand.

Years of vain labor
are demoted to debris
within few minutes.

Yet, I can survive
upon this Rock of Ages,
where my hut still stands.
