Subject: Stuck At 17

STUCK AT 17

I will be 30 on July Fourteen
But inside I still feel like seventeen.
In High School I went through
Something bigger than this earth
And to this day, I don’t understand it’s worth.
The hell I felt that senior year,
No justice could ever clear.
All the other girls were happy with
Their prom and graduation
While I was dying inside with
Bitterness and confusion.
I didn’t get to graduate with my class
Or go to my senior prom.
I got sent to a mental institution
Because Manic-Depressive’s didn’t belong.
A seventeen year old is still a child.
How can it be fair for a child
To never have a chance to smile?
It breaks my heart to see a child cry.
What have they done to have to feel
Like they want to die?
Will there ever be an answer
To that question why?
Why do they suffer no matter
How hard they try?
I will be 30 on July fourteen
But mentally I’m stuck at seventeen.
