I was hoping for a deep hunger
But I found a surface suspicion
I was hoping I could draw you in
But you drew up an anti-me petition

There must be a guilty conscience
I'm released on my own recognizance
I laugh at the way you release me
Because I never felt imprisoned
Just your accusing words berate me

I was hoping for a private conference
After my smoke-writing in the sky
Just a little get-your-attention move
Now you're fuming like I should die
