Evening drapes the sky
off the hill's shoulder
and around the wind's hip
as she stands watching
the pond breathe
in the light-footed pace
of deer.

Doe and fawn
smear the water's lip
with their golden shadow
and I crave a taste
of their honeyed caprice,

like them
I want to splash myself
with youth
and then be inhaled
back into the trees
sculpturing the lean ribcage
of Dianna.
