It lay beside the road
All those wonderful feathers now just limp
Beautiful soft eyes staring
No more its gentle coo upon the world
For it was dead
That gentle , soft and wonderful creature
Died
Why?
All I can see in my mind
The whispy soul rises to its god
Hands reach out and clasp the precious peace it holds
A peace that is lost to the world
A world that now spits suspicion and hate
This beautiful creature
Inspiration of love , understanding
Carried the spig of promise
Yet we have allowed it to die
Alone
We seem not want its gift
All sanity adrift
This dove has died
And maybe
In our apathy
We all killed it
