Thanks; Your Uncertainty about what it is about does not surprise me- It is about Britain in the 70s and so, much of what is referred to may be obscure to you. It has occurred to me that although people from all over the world are aware of American culture- Americans are not always so aware of what happens in other countries . The reasons are varied and should be obvious- so I am not criticising Americans. I have thought maybe footnotes would explain the poem, but I think it would spoil the poem. Let me know if you want me to explain the poem. I am very grateful for your comments they are valued. Thanks:)
