They were developed in the 1930s primarily to treat hypogonadism (inadequate functioning of the male private extremity). Since the 1950s, some athletes have been taking anabolic steroids to build muscle and boost their athletic performance. This supplement can be taken by pills or by giving yourself a shot. Steroids are usually taken to gain lots of muscle quickly with out working hard. Most steroids are used in sports like baseball, football, and/or other sports needing lots of strength. There has always been that fine line with steroids. Some people think they are all right to use and some think there really bad for you. It has been a very popular subject recently in Major League Baseball. This has come up because of how many home runs are being hit in games. Barry Bonds and Gary Sheffield has been just a couple of people being linked to the usage of steroids. So what is really in it for the person taking steroids? Pride, getting women, and for sports is one possible theory. Many people just see guys with the huge muscles and do not think about the consequences that come with taking steroids. I mean of course everyone wants to be big to impress women but, is it really worth it. Many people say taking steroids is their last resort to getting bigger but that may not be true. Steroids can be referred to as roids, juice, and anabolic steroids. The word anabolic means to build muscle tissue very quickly.
