short essay question

How can Poverty be solved?

I have always had a disliking for people on welfare. I don’t really know why, but it has always bothered me that the money that I earn goes to some bum who is too lazy to go out and get a job of their own. After being educated on the subject I don’t know where I stand anymore. I know that Poverty is one of the biggest strains on our nation and it hasn’t been fixed yet. Poverty doesn’t only effect our nation it effects the whole world. How can Poverty be solved?
Something needs to be changed to get people off of welfare and back into the job force. There is always the complaint that there isn’t enough jobs for the amount of people needing to be employed. I think that immigration takes a great tole on the jobs available, especially in the northwest. Maybe a solution to some of this problem would be to tighten the border between the U.S. and Mexico.
Ethnicity has a big influence on community status and community wealth. Our country is still really divided between whites and non whites. I think there needs to be a soltion to this problem to before there will be solution to poverty. Maybe we should look at other countries poverty level and see how they cope with this problem.
On the other hand, maybe our nation has different definitions of poverty than other countries. The majority of people declared to be living in poverty have the necessities to live a pretty normal healthy life. I think our government should take a look at their definition of poverty and think about redefining it. In doing this the people who actually need assistance would be focused on more and be better taken care of. Right now there are so many people in poverty and on government assisted programs that there isn’t enough money to go around.
Will there ever be an end to poverty, or even a dramatic decrease in the number of people who are declared to be living in poverty?
