First off I would like to say I really appreciate this site. I remember vividly in 1991 my father bringing home an old military jeep. My brother and I were just amazed at this old thing! It looked like a long wheel base. My dad was very proud of this creature, he said start it up to my brother, so my brother turned the key. WOW the little truck had a diesel in it.It captured a piece of everyone in the family over the next two years. In 1993 my father passed bless his soul. Everything in the family was auctioned off to pay for itself. I later learned my grandfather had hid it from my mother which had the deed to everything.Grandaddy needed transportation and after dad died grandaddy was too old to start over.I lost track of everyone on that side of the family except grandaddy. He knew I knew about the jeep but we sortof had an unaddressed agreement I guess you could say. Well my dads best friend who I looked up to just diddnt want anything to do with me after the plane crash. So I was just sortof left to myself from the age of 16 on up. The life as i knew it,all my future pans were nothing but memories in the past. Well grandaddy died in 1999 and I hadn't seen heard or even thought about it untill one day my friend said, Hey you remember that old jeep your dad had? I said what about it? Well he said that his uncle had it in a barn. Well that barn is the last place grandaddy parked it in 1999. My friend went and showed me the old jeep and said he would help me get it. It brought back unbelievable memories Especially being right across the street from the old farm! So i asked the guy whose barn it was in. Trying to be respectfull and since I wasnt supposed to know where it was i asked him what he would take for it? His reply its not for sale!!! Ok so much for the respect thing considering the barn is about to fall on it and rats have old nails piled up to the top of the winshield. Im thinking ok it wasn't grandaddy's to sell in the first place.Well I pulled it to a place I could store it safely put a starter selinoid on it and it busted off just like the day dad brought it home. I am just going to keep it in a safe place untill Bill or me dies and restore it for later generations. I don't have anyone i can ask questions about it. The jeep never had a title since it has been in the family. I need brake parts. Is there a stamp somewhere on the thing telling WHAT YEAR it is? My old military jeep is all thats left of those days please help me to restore it along with my memories.
