He isnt one to allow a lot of excuses. He is like, yes you might have had a rough time in things, etc etc. but GET over it and MOVE on!

I tend to have the attitude that while rotten things can happen to us all, we dont have to be a victim of our circumstances either. I had a rotten childhood. But I havent made it an excuse for every dumb thing I've done in my life, or use it as ammo for *the way I am*. We all ultimately have control over our issues, whether that means using tools available (counseling ,etc) or just sucking it up.

My favorite is his attitude towards people who are chronically late-thats been a relationship issue for many on his show. He always makes the person who is late take ownership of what they are doing!

I really like Dr phil. Oprah is okay but I dont watch her as much as I used to
