I was in a toy store and saw those kits. I confess, I did buy the volcano set recently (my son has a thing about volcanoes). But I saw an ad for something even worse than the TV character sets: a Play Doh kit that includes things like airplane wings and propellers or somesuch. The ad says *flat out* that this will help your child make a perfect [whatever the kit "creates"] every time--no more frustration over something not coming out right.

We have a big box of cookie cutters and such for cutting playdoh, and that's about as far as I think I'd want that to go (well, ok, that and the volcano set, lol). Still, my son's favorite thing to do with the stuff is roll out a flat piece with his little rolling pin, then roll the ribbon into a cone-shaped spiral to make a tornado to destroy whatever village of little bugs and figures he's just finished making. (The sound effects alone are worth it: "Nooooo! Look out! It's a TWISTER! RUN FOR YOUR LIIIIIIIVES! AAAAAAAAHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhh....")

Between the tornadoes and the volcano, I don't think a "perfect" little airplane would stand a chance in our house, anyway. ;o)
