is very likely to attract a lot of attention from older boys or even adult men doesnt bother or worry you?

I am all for attempting to understand, and remember VERY clearly being a teen myself. But I am not going to knowingly allow my child to put themselves in a position where they could be preyed upon. Or where they could get themselves into a very bad situation-lots of little girls out there who were just enjoying the male attention and ended up raped.

Funny thing is, I am known as the *cool mom*, even though I am probably the strictest. The kids all seem to want to talk to me when they need advice, and they love to come to my house. Even though the rules and consequences are all very clear. Its called being authoritive (as opposed to authoritarian)(sp??)and is actuallly considered by most child development experts and research to be the type of parenting that is the most effective. Talking, listening, yet still setting firm guidelines.
