I honestly think Paul had bigger things on his mind. Sure he saw her fall from grace with his prescience. If that's the case, then maybe he NEEDED everything to happen as it did in order for events to unfold as they did. However, if Paul Muad'dib was right when he said that he was a "slave to history"; then he knew how events would turn out by the end of his life.

If all this were true, and he really were a "slave to history" then everything he did was setting up his son for his ascendency to God Emperor (which was necessary for the salvation of humanity). In which case, Paul was more akin to "John The Baptist" (who's job was to "prepare the way for Christ's birth [John The Baptist was a trouble maker, and just like Paul, didn't want anything more than to live a life of a normal man but was called to duty by prophecy], and Leto was akin to Christ).

One comparison I've made in the past is this: Jesus went from beig a GOD to being a man, then DIED so save humanity. Leto went from being a man and became a GOD and lived (for a long time) in order to save humanity (You'll notice they did the same through opposites: GOD to Man / Man to GOD and died / lived in order to save humanity.

Also, both took place in the Desert backwater of their respective worlds / universes. Both deserts also harbored the "fuel" of humanity (Notice the comparison of "the spice" to "Oil".

Obviously these were part of the genius of Herbert's work.
