You say that the worms must be changed. Are the worms in fact invisible to prescience? Was Leto invisible to prescience? I don't think he was and therefore, I am not sure that the worms are.
But if LEto's pearl of wisdom is in there to help them survive the typhoon struggle, does that have anything to do with the fact that the species who possibly seeded the worms aren't around anymore? Did they not survive their own Typhoon struggle?

I don't think you are wrong in your predictions Ghanima, but they certainly don't address the question of where the worms are from and what is their ultimate purpose.
