I had intended to wait until I found a used copy, as I will for every future prequel and for both halves of Dune 7, but I go it for Christmas.

But yeah, it is pretty well written. Toward the end of the book, the writing drags more and more, but at the same time Brian really makes his relationship with his parents "real" for the readers.

I would like to have found out more about the themes and inspirations of the man's books other than just DUNE (although I could have gone without knowing the ***ENDING*** to SOUL CATCHER), but other than that I thought it had a lot of great info.

And yes, that thing about Alia was very interesting. What's especially interesting about it is that the publisher actually made a recommendation that probably improved the quality of the final story considerably.

Man, now I'm getting this urge to re-read the Chronicles. I can't do that yet! I've read only half of the eighteen Frank Herbert novels I have on the shelf, and there are so many other authors I'm still waiting to read that it's not even funny.
