Well if anyone is still out there, I have felt bad that the board hasn't gotten into some good DUNE discussion in a while.
So here's what I want to know: At the end of Chapterhouse, the Tleilaxu Master had a nullentropy tube with the entire genetic material of all the Atreides and their retainers. I assume this to mean everyone from Duke Leto to Moneo as well as Gurney, Duncan, Thufir, etc. Heck perhaps it even had Agammemnon the Cymek and even Vorian Atreides (though doubtful).
My questions is, what do you all the think is the purpose of this genetic material? What could it possibly be used for?
Explanations:
Gholas. With the genetic material the Tleilaxu could create gholas of anyone related to the Atreides that they wanted...but that would beg the question why? Why bring back Siona, or Paul, or Leto II? With the updated genetics could a ghola of like Leto II be some kind of master weapon against anyone...even Miles Teg and his powers? ... maybe... but doubtful.
Other explanations may include, a Master Atreides warrior. This is sort of a far fetched theory, but remember Norma Cenva and her trasnformation in "The Machine Crusade". After the torture by Xerxes the Cymek (I think that's who it was), she has an awakening and delves into her female genetic past to fashion herself a perfect body? What if the Tleilaxu discovered an artificial way of reproducing a sort of Master Atreides warrior that was the culmination of all in the Atreides Genetic line from Agammenon to Miles Teg. More than simply a Ghola grown from dead flesh, a new kind of hybrid superbeing whose Prescience could penetrate even the no-gene that Leto II had bred into humanity. Duncan Idaho's grid-vision...pshaw, mere child's play to the Kwisatz Haderach of the future. But what would be the use of this superman? Well the Tleilaxu of course would want to use him to wipe out all the poweindahs I guess.
Anyway, it's kind of a fanciful theory, but also frightening since I think it is actually a possibility in the Duniverse.
