Cannabist, I'm not over-reaching anything. I am taking the text at face value, and it is clearly a contradiction. You are implying far more outside thoughts and using them to make the two books work together. I'm not saying this is wrong, but there's more than one way to skin a cat. In six books, I haven't been impressed, that's all I'm saying. No harm in that.
While I do believe the two are working with notes, I'm sure that they are adding many of their own ideas to the story. Why, can I ask? Is it their story? Erasmus was admittedly their own creation, along with many other things. For you to say that anything in these two chapters is Franks idea is wrong....or at least not known. I fully admit that it may be all Frank....but I somehow, I doubt it. It's clear we have two views of this, which is cool. To each his own.
