Personally I loved that Baron got that disease. It didn't change his character one bit. He was a sadist BEFORE he got the disease and indulged in even his own vanity regarding his physical appearance.
Also...relationship with Mother Mohiam...What relationship??? He tried to RAPE her!
Totally fitting anyway.

And that quote you pulled said that his Corpulence was a "side-effect" of his indulgences...it sure was since he raped Mohiam out of his sadism and got punished for it as a side-effect.
