To be honest I am a little burnt out on this topic, but again I'll reiterate my point, that faster than light travel without relativistic effects is goofy. But so are things in the original Dune.
Also, an alien who absorbs solar energy and can then exhibit abilities that seem amazing to humans isn't more far fetched than mutants who can shoot beams out of their eyes, create weather storms, or have super healing factor and metal claws.
I'm sorry if the space flight ruined the Jihad for you. It's a shame.
Especially since it is now the official version of what took place.
If you have a more satisfying notion in your head of what it was...stick to your guns and believe that. That's cool with me.
