Subject: I've read the first four....
In reply to: The Cannabist 's message, "So what have you read, when did you read it, and how many times?" on 12:37:22 03/27/03 Thu

.....books too many times to count(but I'm still enthralled by Herbert's writing every time!), and tried to get into Heretics and Chapterhouse numerous times. I feel like I kind of have a grip on the last two books, but nothing like the first four.
I read Dune for the first time when I was a sophomore in college, in 1992. Was immediately sucked in - devoured it. Went on to become thoroughly engrossed in the next 3 books and watched my GPE drop like the recent stock market records. Didn't care, though! I was hooked!
Took a break from Dune series at that point to get into Destination-Void, the Jesus Incident, the Lazarus Effect, and the Ascension Factor. Was completely sucked in again.
I love the depth of his writing, his ideas, philosophies.....I haven't encountered much literature that has made me think - I mean really THINK - the way Frank Herberts writing does. The dude was deep, man.

Cannabist, thanks so much for creating such an excellent website! If I had to read one more message about Scottie the Hottie (aka Leto, James McAvoy), I was going to shoot myself or the computer screen.

ciao
Sionaatr
