As I stated in a previous post, I haven't read it, but a couple things come to mind. 1- If it's harder to understand than Dune, it's probably pushing the envelope as something the masses can relate to or understand. I attribute much of 1984 Dune's failure, to lack of understanding on the part of the viewer. Let's face it, as mid-80's movies go, it really wasn't that bad. Just hard to understand. Am I right in assuming GEoD could not stand alone? The viewer would have to have seen the 1984 movie or one of the 2 mini-series to have any clue as to what was going on, right? 2- I actually don't see length as a problem, since Hollywood has fully embraced the concept of sequels as of late. Could they tell the GEoD story in 2 or 3 movies or another mini-series?
