you guys might want to contact the Red Cross or an organized group. You should be aware of the infectious aspects (dead animals and humans, major sewer issues, and infiltration of rodents and bugs- all which transmit serious diseases) of what you are getting yourselves into and consult experts about truly helping. this is a major problem. we have started a fund here at school for people.... food, towels, toothbrushes. some of the main problems are finding homes and supplies for the victims. You might be better off driving to Texas where they moved everyone rather than going to a city under water and in complete chaos. your intentions are beautiful!!! I'm only offering a scientific prospectus (one that you might have already considered). Good Luck with your plans, whatever they maybe!!! If you know people with heavy machinery..... they will be in high demand helping families "clean-up," you are talking about heavy debri, trees, houses, etc. Bring anti-spectic material.
