 I find it disturbing that fans of this band cannot seem to accept that some people don't enjoy what we do... while enthusiasm is appreciated by us all (in the band), there are going to be times where the music just doesn't reach out through us in particular to certain individuals, and no matter what that person thinks we should try to be more tollerant and perhaps even turn an ear towards the nay-sayers in an effort to further sharpen our act... the reviews page is not a place where only good things can be said, it's a place for people to exchange ideas and feelings...

I didn't get the chance to read everything this guy wrote because we were out on the road when the post was put up, but I gotta say I'm almost MORE offended that someone went and cut'n'pasted their blather over and over and over just to try and blot this one person's opinions out... that, my friends, is CENCORSHIP... and it pains me greatly to think that we as hippies are so close-minded and intollerant that we can't allow such views to coexsist with our own. That's not how the hippie elders taught ME to be when I joined the family back in 1981, a punker with a spiked wrist band who just wanted to fight with everyone around me (and... uh... often LOSE said engagement... heh heh).

Why do we fear someone who hates what we're about so much? And do we think that such opinions (expressed where said opinions are supposed to belong - a REVIEW PAGE) are going to bring us down, or ruin our buzz, just because they exsist? Are we (as Dead or DSO fans) really so insecure?

I don't think so.

I didn't get to read all of the nasty comments this guy made but I heard about a few of them... and so what? Plenty of people think I'm an asshole, and a lot of other people view me as a Sonic Saint. Which is it? Well, if you ask Lisa our vocalist on any given day, you might get either answer and neither of them would be 100% correct... it's a perception, and she's welcome to form whichever she feels (sorry Lisa, I'm not picking on you but I needed an example) at the time...

... I WILL say that I'm kind of glad we're not floating every listener's boat... I'm glad to be pissing a few people off playing music that "isn't mine", because the Grateful Dead did that very same thing throughout their entire career ("I Fought The Law"?) and they still carry out that mission as splinter cells to this very day (or did I just imagine the name "Scratch-Dog" around the scene when Bobby added turntables to his act?)

As a member of this gathering, I am heartened by the fact that there are people out there who love what we do... but I'm also a bit put off by the rabid nature and paving over perceived cracks by a few individuals who can't take some criticism at the object of their affection... the self-appointed cencors of the review page are wearing blinders just as bad as the person they are so desperately trying to muffle...

You don't change anything by simply "making it go away". Hard attitudes and strong attacks are not fun to endure, but they can be met with intelligence rather than brute strength or totalitarian-state style cencorship.
