Took the Greyhound from NYC. Got in as they were playing Peggy-O. Kicked myself when I heard they started with Half Step>Franklins. Oh well. Settled down real quick as they got into a smoking Cassidy, the place was rocking. Heavy Loser, following that up and a hard Promised Land to close the set, with Rob B. losing his mind on the B3. Right on.

Second Set was off the hook. John took some huge solos during the Scarlet.
They didnt waste anytime getting into Fire and man was it intense. The place was packed and everybody was dancing and singing along. Second solo was sweet. John started fanning the guitar like crazy during the third solo; the place was going nuts! They were into it and having a great time. A nice compact version of Scarlet>Fire. Into a groovy Estimated. This was also excellent. Rob B. was coming through very nice on the keys. As soon as John hit those chords, we knew what was coming next, and man was it a rocking
version of Eyes. The drummers were thumping it and set a fast pace. John's first solo was out of this world and the fans let him know it. An excellent version with an extended pre-drums jam. Rob Eaton stayed on stage with Rob B. and the drummers for a nice little tribal jam. Into Drumz>Space. Space had an almost full blown Dark Star Jam. Only thing missing was the bass line. Man, they were so close to falling into it. Out of Space into Black Peter. Now everytime I see these guys, I always get Stella Blue as the tear jerker, so I was hoping for a Peter or a Dew, or a Wharf Rat, but preferably the Peter. When I heard those notes I went apeshit, so did the rest of the rowdy crowd. Heavy Peter. Well sung by John and immaculate vocals on the "See how everything" bridge. The whole place was one at that moment. Heavy man. A major highlight. John only did the Run and See line 2x, much to my chagrin(but so did Jerry for the most part in 79), but man did he rip a fat one to end the song. Long solo. I wish it had been an 84 show so we couldve gotten more fuzz, but it was SWEET!! Into a crazy Miracle. Rob was on point tonite. Did a grate job leading the sing along and it was plenty raunchy. Grate solos by John. Excellent HARD drumming. Greg was booming on the bass, and Rob B. was pounding on the keys with gusto. Crowd again going crazy and dancing up a storm. Into a very energetic Bertha. Into an awesome Good Lovin' with a nice faux Bobby rap by Rob. Again the drumming was just killer. Rob Koritz was killing the tom-toms!!
Encore was a fun sing-along US Blues.

The filler was amazing too. Masterpeice was sweet, but the Terrapin was literally out of this world. Fucking perfect! They brought it down to an absolute whisper at the end and then the banging of the drums, the trilling of the chords; the whole shebang and it was over. The Terrapin seriously fucked with my head. Saw some old friends and made some new ones. It seems everybody has seen me at Irving Plaza with the SYF cape and people always try to buy it from me. (NEVER!!) As the sea of Heads walked out of the concert halls and into the casinos(I didnt even look at em) all you heard was people singing and humming the Terrapin Jam.

THANX DSO!!
