They've played Cornell several times before (most recently at the Rex Foundation benefit in Chicago this spring - CD available from Munckmix and DVD on the way).

I am one of the fortunate ones to have actually been at the show, two weeks before my college graduation, and that spring '77 tour was the highlight of my life. 5-7-77 and 5-9-77 complement it and make what is essentially a sacred musical tryptich. Thank God for Betty Boards to keep it all alive for 27 years and counting...

Not a week goes by that I don't play it at least once, and the "Morning Dew" is, IMHO, the supreme spiritual expression of Western civilization. And the "Scarlet>Fire" is one of the best, if not best, versions. Too bad it isn't the 3 verse "Fire," but it pretty much is "just exactly perfect." The "Estimated" doesn't suck, either...

I wish DSO would play that one about once a month, as the Rex Foundation show is uncanny. One of the best DSO ever! I couldn't be in Chicago for it, but the music is as hauntingly beautiful and as joyously celebratory as the original GD. Get the CD; they are still mixing the DVD and I look forward to it, too.

All of this is just a long way of saying that the band knows the show well, and it would be very, very cool if they play it again, but they didn't give it to us this May 8 at the Fillmore (5-5-77 was close!) and so I wouldn't hold my breath.

But you can cross your fingers and light some prayer candles!

"once in a while you can get shown the light..."
