Despite a pre-season cup and 7 wins on end, the VVS Laxatives continue to make the news for all the wrong reasons. Major sponsor, Mumbai Munchers, India's largest laxette producer have withdrawn $US200 million sponsorship after injured captain Nigel Lappin commented recently to the media that "Who needs laxettes? You can just have a good curry and let gravity do the rest."

Sales of laxettes plummeted in subsequent weeks and Lappin was severely reprimanded by club president the Nawab of Carnegie and fined $20,000. Rumour has it the Nawab paid Lappins fine as he has strong interest in the world curry market, patricularly tumeric. Sales of powdered curry and spices sky rocketted after the popular Lappins comments on a media show hosted by former Laxatives coach Danny Unshaw.

On other matters Unshaw said he was bitter at the Laxatives new found success and said it vindicated all the bad decisions he made during his tenure "Danny Unshaw can thank Danny Unshaw for what Danny Unshaw has achieved with the laxatives in an indirect sort of way. At least two of the players on the list know and talk to Danny Unshaw regularly, which is more than when Danny Unshaw was coach" Unshaw said.
