Subject: thank the good Lawd above The Navy had the bye.

In another outbreak of spasticity, legendary coach Jock McHale who has coached the Navy for a very long time (108 years) submitted a team even though the Navy had the bye.

It was just a cunning plan, said Jock.

If somebody had turned up and we'd beaten them, we'd 'a cribbed a four point break on the rest of the comp.

And if we lost, we could say "On'y jokin' bruvver!"

The joke may well have backfired on McHale, however, as it transpired that Navy superstar, Simon Black, failed to have a single kick. Extraordinarily low tallies for a number of other senior players has led many observers to question whether they were really trying.

Senior players have been heard to mumble that there was no point in trying cos they were'nt playing anyone (Freo not being counted as a real team) anyway and it didn't matter if they got a stat or not.

Given that they play the rebounding Party Animals next week many observers will be keen to see if the Navy can put up a competitive effort with rumours abounding that Jock has 'lost' the playing group.

Others have said that, at his advanced age, it's surprising he even knows who is in the team, let alone get to the keyboard to post a team at all.
