Never seen NYPD Blue but David Renwick is a class writer and I really indentify with the character of Jonathan... top show, that! I don't watch The Simpsons but I do respect it, and I never really watched MI either... seemed a bit like one of those bog-standard 60s show to me, sorry. As for your subtle sensitivity to texts.... Bog standard? Ingenious, mate, that's what it is! It can be a bit dull at times but at its best I've got nothing but admiration for the writers, it's so cleverly worked out. I'll send you a couple next time if you want, you can see how much it differs from the films. (Hint: a lot.) Jonathan Creek is a bloody clever show, ain't it?
