Thank God my stomach was not full when I saw this movie. As my insides knotted up, I closed my eyes frequently because it was just - obscene. Had I come alone, I would have walked out... a BARREN, TRITE, THREADBARE BLOOD BATH BODY COUNT FLOP... kinda sums it up. In my opinion, QT has a Freudian fascination with death. As an actress and writer, I WAS a fan of his after Pulp Fiction. What I thought was genius talent was obviously a fluke. Now, I am repulsed by his abhorrent sense of humor, disrespect for human life and dull misuse of his power as a filmmaker. The amount of dismemberment and blood spurts/gushes in this movie is unintelligent, crass, overdone and not the least bit funny. Just when I was exasperated with the gore, the holes in the script kept me busy. Hole#1: How does the Bride come out of a coma after 4 years, learn to walk again in less than 1 day PLUS gather money to fly to Okinawa? Hole #2: ...then get on a PLANE to Tokyo with a Japanese steel SWORD and no one stop her? Hole #3: Why would O-Ren Ishii - the mob boss of the Japanese Yakuza - work for Bill? Hole #4: Why would O-Ren Ishii WATCH the Bride kill ALL of her security and ENTIRE crime family (more than 50 people) and wait her turn? There are so many more holes... but I don't want to waste anymore mental energy recalling inconsistencies in this movie. My headache from watching it might come back. My solace is that I did not pay money to see it. I live and work in Hollywood and give this movie 2 hands down and a negative 15 stars. I am soooooooo disappointed in QT, since I heard he was making a high-concept, clever, witty, hip, tour de force, B-movie… Somebody needs to slap him; cause ain’t nothing high, clever, witty or hip about this flick. And to think these fine actresses spent precious time learning martial arts and Japanese for this!
