In reply to: Beth 's message, "I'm glad you're okay with it if that's what the docs say need to be done..." on 21:01:39 08/24/06 Thu

I've had a a tubal and I can tell you that even though I have two fertility babies since Emily was born I have been suddenly regular (since last Aug) ever since! While the idea of more babies makes me happy, my health just isn't worth the risk to them or me (for my girls that I do have). I infact told Chris a couple of nights ago that it was a good thing I can't be pregnant because all the new babies we saw out and about last week had me really missing those precious first months. All months are precious but you know what I mean. I figured for me, with my situation if the only birth defects my girls have are a couple of ill placed large strawberries that are nearly gone now on Lauren and an innocent murmur for Em I'm going to praise God and not risk it again. Of course we didn't know about the murmur when we decided but it turned out for the best anyway.

I would agree with Beth that the vasectomy would be easier on Robert's body. The only problem is they are not as effective from the start as a tubal would be. I forget the percentages...a tubal will take longer to heal and is more invasive. Now a vasectomy might be a good option for now while you give your body time to heal and then later you could get the tubal just for good measure if it would make your doctor feel better knowing that a rogue sperm won't get to you.

I think you should for sure get a second opinion or 3rd if they contradict each other for peace of mind. I know sometimes we would stop at the one with the answers we want to hear and this is a big decision for you. Please really consider all the options. We love you girl and don't like to hear you aren't feeling well. Please take care of yourself...we will be here when you are feeling better!

Brandie
