Well, Ian,my 6 year old was totally heartbroken about not going. I felt really terrible about that because I know he really wanted to go but I thought it was for the best that he didn't go. We had an offer from a realtive to take him and the other kids but unfortunately I really don't trust my family that much. I know that sounds awful but it is true. I don't like the way they discipline and more often than not actually talk to my kids so I would rather not send my babies off.

Robert called my brother's cell phone and my sil answered it. No surprise I guess because Robert said she was actually glad that we were not coming to the party. As politely as she could get her foot out of her mouth she explained that we took a lot of resources! I give up. When we go to any of their parties we always eat before we go and as adults we never eat cake or food and now our older kids won't eat at their parties either because we have been told so many times how much it costs to feed our "huge" family.

But the real deciding factor was that Robert had to do a software rollout for work at the exact same time as the party. Since I really can't drive it was a done deal. We told Ian that we would invite his cousin over in the next day or so to come play. I am thinking maybe we can have a little celebration for him here.

Then the nightmare thought hit me. Sunday is my mother's birthday and if we invite my brother and his family over this weekend he will for sure bring my mother and grandmother, because that is how he is. So it may be next weekend before we invite my neice and nephew over!

Thanks for all of the advice. I have learned a lot in the last few years becaue at one time I would have gone, no matter what just to keep those people happy. I am learning to say no and set boundaries and it is hard work!
