We got to the Aquarium at about noon. Had I known how small it is, we would have planned to do it and the zoo that afternoon. Oh, well.
I made reservations for dinner at their restaurant, called Jane and left a message telling her we were in town, then we went thru the Aquarium. The first time through it took about two hours. Compared to Omaha they didn't have much, but they did have tigers, which is different. I paid for minnows so the kids could feed the Rays, and they both freaked out. I was the only one who ended up doing it, lol! The Aquarium itself is nice...it was just that I'd been to bigger ones in Chicago, St. Paul, and Omaha. It was the comparison that made it seem small.
After our first time through we grabbed sodas and chips, then went outside. They had a bouncy house and a bubbly machine. The boys played for about half an hour, then we went through the Aquarium again. This time it only took about an hour. We washed up, then headed to dinner.
Okay, I cannot say enough good things about the restaurant! If you are ever in Denver, it's a MUST! The decor is great. One wall is a huge tank with 40 species of fish. The lights are schools of fish and miliflori mini lights that look a bit like jellyfish. There is acrylic seaweed behind the booths. You could get basic stuff...like burgers...but they also had fresh fish. The boys had chicken as usual. I ordered the rainbow trout. It was completely boneless...how they did that I have no idea! They'd given it a light breading and macadamia nut crust, and there was crab meat lumped on top. It came with a wonderful wild rice and fresh steamed brocolli. Everything was cooked perfectly! The boys got make-your-own sundaes for dessert. The ice cream was in a parfait glass and there were 8 or 9 toppings in little cups around it. I got the cheesecake. I came topped with fresh raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and frozen peaches. It was more than enough for two people! The evening was spendy...$60 with the tip, but it was the best food I'd had in years!
Jane called in the middle of dinner. She's been working the Rockies game that day. I told her we'd call her after we got to our hotel and we'd figure out when to get together.
As I mentioned, the hotel was a major MISS. The kid were disappointed by the pool. Jane and I chatted by phone for almost 2 hours, then agreed to meet for breakfast the next morning.
That night I got NO sleep. First, the other people there were noisy. It was midnight before it quieted down enough so we could sleep. Then, it stormed for the second time that day. That kept waking Liam up, and he kept waking me up.
I finally got up around 6:30, got ready, and loaded the car. Jane came at 8 and we walked across the street to eat at Denny's. We ended up visiting for over 2 hours. I hadn't seen her since Liam was around 2...that's a long time!
After that it was time to hit the road! The boys slept a good chunk of the way coming home. They didn't even want to eat...they were just tired and wanted to get to their own beds, lol!
This afternoon is Teiguen's buddy's birthday party. We don't have a gift yet. It's almost noon and I"m not dressed. I think I'll go flop in the chair, lol, no use rushing things!!!
Talk to you all later today!
