UGH! is all I can say. I'm going to have to change my level of insurance. I've always been on the HMO. I'll need to go to the PPO due to adding the boys. Guess what the monthly premium on the HMO is??? $689! The PPO is $349.
With the PPO you get one well child visit a year (with a copay) and then $500 free services before you have to start paying your $2500 per person deductible. In other words, with it you have to figure that if anyone in your family gets seriously ill, you'll have to file bankruptcy...but minor things should be covered.
I am already paying almost $200 a month for Liam, so with tax savings it won't seem like a whole lot more. I loved the plan I had Liam on. Then, about a year ago they did away with it and switched him to another of their plans...and the rates have gone up and up and up.
Anyway, my work wants $60 A MONTH for dental insurance for the boys. Does that seem crazy to anyone but me??? Maybe next year I'll get it for one year so Liam can get sealants on all his teeth. Then I'll drop it until Teiguen has all his molars. I am so lucky that neither of the boys is going to need braces. Or, at least, it doesn't seem they will. Teiguen could surprise me, I guess...but, like Liam, he has room between his baby teeth, so there should be plenty of room for his adult teeth when they come in.
The insurance book this year is 3/4" thick! In addition to those two, there's an optional vision plan with VSP. I couldn't find out what it costs. Then there is long term disability insurance, short term, the cafeteria plan, a dozen investment plans, prepaid legal services (I'm trying to decide if I should do this for a year...I could get a will done and it would cost $16 a month for a year.), identity fraud insurance, and on and on and on. Holy crapolla!
That doesn't begin to touch the pages and pages and pages of re-enrollment forms.
I hate paperwork.
