Luckily, so did one across the street, so the repairmen were only 2 minutes away. They cleaned it out and recharged the coolant.

My question is...why can't they do preventative maintenance? You'd think that every March or so they'd send the guys out to recharge all the airconditioners in the neighborhood, wouldn't you? Why respond only when there's a crisis???

I dunno...guess I wouldn't make a very good landlord!

I'm going today to buy two new burners. They won't repair the damned things and I'm tired of only having one larger burner to cook on. On the first I'm going to send the receipt and deduct it from my rent.

If they quibble about it, I'll tell them I've had the guys out twice to fix it, and they refuse to do it. Seems it's my fault because I don't clean my stove often enough...not the fact that the burners are 35 years old and the connections are rusted thru!

Oh, well, the air is working again, so I should be happy, eh???
