Subject: We had a great time at the game, even if they did cut the fireworks short

We got there a bit early. A country station we listen to was giving away magnets and tatoos, so the kids grabbed those (they love free stuff...don't care what it is!) on the way in. We stopped and I took their picture by the George Brett statue...then went to the play area so they could romp for a bit.

After that I took them to see the World Series trophy and AL cups. Liam was amazed at how closely we were able to replicate the trophy! Of course, the hall of fame meant nothing to them...those players had all retired before they were born.

Then we grabbed dinner. Ready? A bbq beef sandwich (no fries or sides of any kind): $6.50. A glass of soda: $5. A pretzel: $3.25! We did find two bargains...the kiddie meal was a hot dog, a fruit roll up, and small soda for $3.75. And, later the kids got dippin' dots...they were $4.00, same price as at the mall.

It was a perfect night...in the mid-80's and no humidity. We had good seats and the kids enjoyed the game. The Royals had 11 hits...dang! One more hit and we would have had 3 dozen free donuts coming our way, lol! Anyway, the Royals won, which is amazing in and of itself.

The fireworks were great...but they had to cut them short because the wind was blowing them onto the crowd, lol! It was like being in a battle...watch the show and try to dodge falling fire at the same time. I was amazed Liam wasn't in tears...three years ago that was his biggest worry. He wouldn't even watch the fireworks that year because he was sure they were going to land on him!

We didn't get home until after 11. I got everyone showers and we were in bed at midnight.

Amazingly, the neighborhood noise had stopped by then! Most years it goes on all night. I'm glad that everyone decided to turn in early this year!

Well, we need to go to the nursing home. I haven't even showered yet. I got up today and took Benadry. It's just starting to wear off enough that I feel like I can function.

Hope everyone else had a good Fourth!
